February 19
Name of My Utopia
The name of my utopia is Veristan, which is a conjugation of the latin root verus, meaning truth, and stan, meaning country: thus "The Country of Truth" or alternately "The True Country." This is because the society I will create will be based on truth, and will be a country, obviously.
Declaration of Independence
We, the people of Veristan, as a result of the war, oppression, poverty and untruths prevalent in modern society, do declare that we consider ourselves a separate nation as of February 18, 2012. Thanks to the vast resources available to us through geoforming and our wish to avoid the taint of the outside world, the society we shall form shall be completely self-sustaining and separate from the outside world. Our goal is to create a perfect society free from all the blemishes that taint our world today. No one shall tell a lie in our society. No one shall possess any sort of currency, for money is the root of all evil.
In this new and perfect world we will create, there shall be no media bias or cover-ups; everyone will always know the truth. With truth comes the ability to act in the best interests of the people of the country, something which other contemporary nations fail to do. All the intelligent and knowledgeable members of society who have proven their ability to make decisions shall have a hand in the selection of the government. No individual shall ever achieve ultimate power. And all the discrimination that exists currently in the world regarding race, gender or any other factor shall be abolished.
Motto and Flag

The grey background of the flag signifies truth, because grey is the color of truth. The significance of the white owl is explained below, in the section on the utopian animal.
The motto of my utopia is "Libertas per Veritatem," or "Freedom through truth," since it summarizes what the utopia is about very well.
Utopian Animal
The animal I would choose as the symbol for my utopia is the snowy owl. The reason for this is because owls are always associated with wisdom and majesty and would be a strong symbol for people to rally around. The white feathers of a snowy owl represent perfection, which is the ultimate goal of every utopia.

Governing Body
The government of my utopia would be a democracy similar to America, but with a number of key twists. There would be no such thing as political parties; that way the government might actually accomplish something without arguing with each other, and since there is no currency and vast resources on the island of Veristan, as well as no contact with the outside world, they wouldn't have foreign policy issues to worry about and only basic resource management as far as the economy goes, allowing them to concentrate on other things. There would be a president as in America, but that president can be voted out at any time by the voting population, which would be composed solely of people who had taken tests demonstrating they were intelligent, knew what was going on in Veristan and knew something about the issues at hand. As there is no money in Veristan, each presidential candidate is allotted a certain amount of resources for campaign purposes. There will also be a Congress-type lawmaking group and a Supreme Court, members of which are selected and de-selected in a similar way to the president, but by an even more specific group of people. There will be no specific state-like areas of the country with their own governments; all decisions of the central government apply to all regions of the country. It is instead divided into zones, each with a specific purpose and unique environment, but the zones do not have their own governments.
Education and Occupations
Education in Veristan would be handled very similarly to education in America, but with a much greater focus on and variety of standardized testing. The curriculum would be geared toward the child's predicted career path based on their test scores and personal preferences. As in America, the amount of time they would study would depend on the career path, but since there is no money there is no cost for going to school longer outside of the money you would have made working. After schooling was over, you would go into the career path of your choice. You gain "rank" based on how much you have contributed to your country at whatever profession you chose, and the more your rank improves, the more your status and quality of life. Since everyone is employed by the government, there is no unemployment-they find a use for everyone.
